Letter to John Wordsworth and his brother Christopher, from their father at Trinity College, Cambridge - 23 Sep 1822

Christopher Wordsworth writes to his sons (‘My Dear Boys’) at Winchester with news of a visit to family in the North. The first few lines of the letter show that Christopher stayed with his brother William Wordsworth at Rydal Mount in early September. The inscription on the reverse of the wax profile of Wykeham given by William to his nephews (exhibited below) is dated September 1822, and so we may assume that Christopher brought it back with him when he returned from this journey to the Lakes.
