From the seventeenth century, some schools began to collect and copy the best compositions of Latin verse written by their students. Winchester's volumes of Latin verse were called the Carmina Wiccamica. This volume was copied out by H.M. Elliot, and features a poem written by Christoper Wordsworth in 1824.
