Silver oinochoe with kouros handle from the Lydian Treasure

Accession Number: 1.80.96
Collection: Uşak, Archaeological Museum

This oinochoe was found in the Toptepe Tumulus and dates to around the late 6th/5th century BC. At 16.3cm tall, the metalwork is highly ornate and the product of a skilled craftsperson. The kouros is finely detailed; the hair is carefully sculpted and the body worked in fine sculptural style. In contrast with the complexity of the human and animal figures, the body of the oinochoe is executed with a skilful simplicity.
