Preserving memories

As the name records, the First World War was a global conflict. It affected people across the world. The memory of the war still lives on, and many family stories and mementoes have survived through the century since the war. An initiative originating in Oxford has worked to preserve these memories by creating and making available digital versions of stories, photographs, letters and other objects from the period of the war. Material has been collected online and at public events held across Europe, and the digital archives can now be explored online through the Great War Archive and Europeana 1914-1918.

This section shows the process used for capturing objects and stories at specific collection events, also called 'roadshows'.
