Parmigianino, Madonna of the Long Neck (1534-1540)

Parmigianino (Girolana Mazzola) (1503-1540) began his career in Parma, then came to Rome in 1524 and was immediately regarded as extraordinarily talented.  Was adopted by the reigning Pope, Clement VII, and received a series of papal commissions in the mid 1520’s.
