In contrast to the schematic bisected uteri in the 'complex systems' unit, wombs in medieval manuscripts most often look like light bulbs. Immediately following an image of the pregnant disease woman, these light-bulb wombs are notable for their bright and dense colouring. Like the other foetus-in-utero images in this unit, some of the wombs contain twins.
